A living folk tradition, staged intimately
The csárdás and Hungary's regional folk dances are still actively performed and taught, and seeing them with a live orchestra in a small cellar room is a different experience from a staged arena show. The Rajkó Ensemble — a dance corps founded in 1950 with its own orchestra since 1952 — carries that repertoire, trained specifically to keep it alive on stage.
How the evening is structured
Arrival and a welcome drink open the night around 18:30, the first half of the show runs from 19:00, a short interval follows (dinner is served here on the meal options), then the second half closes things out to around 20:20 — roughly two hours all in, with the performance itself running 80 minutes.
Picking show-only vs. a dinner option
If you've already eaten or your evening is tight, the show-only ticket covers the performance and a welcome drink. For a fuller night, Menu A brings a classic Hungarian meat dinner (tarragon poultry ragout soup, chicken leg paprikash, Somlói sponge cake) and Menu B is the vegetarian equivalent — both served at the interval.
Know the venue before you book
The show is staged at the Hungarian Gastro Cellar, a below-ground room reached by stairs — atmospheric, but not wheelchair accessible. Seating is limited, the listing is currently flagged "Likely to sell out," and free cancellation up to 24 hours before means there's no downside to booking your date early.
